A city with a strong presence
I came because I wanted to experience Germany’s capital. Its scale, wide streets and atmosphere felt a little intimidating, although public transport was easy to use.
The Fernsehturm appeared again and again between the buildings and made Berlin feel even more urban.

History in every direction
Berlin Cathedral was the most beautiful sight of my day. I also visited the Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, the Holocaust Memorial and the remains of the Berlin Wall, including the famous Brezhnev–Honecker mural.

Worth seeing once
I finished with a pretzel and coffee while light rain matched the city’s grey mood. Berlin did not become my favourite, but I believe everyone should experience it at least once.
